About us
Ocean Drive House occupies a restored 1930s Art Deco building a short walk from the sand at South Beach. The pastel façade, terrazzo floors and porthole windows are original; everything behind them has been rebuilt for travellers who want company without giving up a good night's sleep.
Dorm guests sleep in made-to-measure oak pods with blackout curtains, a reading light, their own sockets, a lockable drawer and hotel-grade linen. Private Queens, Deco Suites with balconies over Ocean Drive and a single Rooftop Penthouse share the same floors, so the whole house has one front door, one café and one roof.

Read all reviews →The pod was the best night's sleep I've had in a shared room — the curtain really closes and the drawer fits a whole carry-on. I came for three nights and stayed six, mostly because of the people I met at the Thursday welcome drink.
We booked the suite for the balcony and it did not disappoint: coffee every morning looking over the palms to the sea. The building is beautiful, the bathroom is properly smart, and the rooftop pool is never crowded.
Clean, quiet and right across from the beach. Sunrise yoga on the roof was the highlight, and the cafecito downstairs is the real thing. The staff gave me a bike and a map and I rode to South Pointe for sunset.

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 11am. If you arrive early, leave your bags with us and use the pool, showers and café until your pod or room is ready.
Is the dorm rate per bed or per room?
Per pod, per night. Each pod has its own curtain, reading light, sockets and a lockable drawer, and the rate includes linen, towels, Wi-Fi and the rooftop pool.
Is there a women-only dorm?
Yes. The 6-Bed Female Pod Dorm has its own key-card door and its own bathroom, and only guests booked into that room can open it.
Is there an age limit?
Guests in the dorms must be 18 or over. Private Queens, Deco Suites and the Rooftop Penthouse welcome families; let us know the ages of any children when you book.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast is not included in the Room only rate. Book the With café breakfast rate to have it at The Porthole Café each morning, or order as you go — Cuban coffee, pastelitos, bowls and pressed sandwiches from 7am.
